TN-4T

TN-4T Network element (NE) is Nortel Networks extension multiplexer to extend the functionality of Optera Metro 4100 and 4200 shelf.

The TN-4T allows the connection in a hub configuration of two hundred and fifty two of 2 Mbit/s PDH signals together with 1:N protection. The hardware and software of the TN-4T are configured as a terminal multiplexer.

The network element provides two slots for STM-4 short haul optical intershelf cards and up to eight 2 Mbit/s I/O cards.

The TN-4T can be monitored and configured by accessing the User Interface (UI) of the application software.

The UI can be accessed either:

• Locally by a Craft Access Terminal (CAT) connected directly to the NE
• Remotely via the TN-MS Element Controller (EC-1)
